Beer Review: Mad Manatee from Bold City Brewery

It’s no secret that I’m shallow. Not sandy shoal, dog-beachy type shallow. I’m talking about book judging by the cover kind of shallow. It’s served me well thus far—and certainly applied well to this week’s beer selection.

Mad Manatee from Bold City Brewery has the kind of sweet, eye-catching label that could sell water to fish. Luckily for us, Bold City didn’t waste their creative advertising talents on such a nonsensical liquid. Instead, they packaged a tasty, crushable IPA inside this 12 oz. work of art.

This beer simply makes me wanna’ splash the skiff in around Melbourne and blow through every “No Wake” sign on the ICW just to suckle this light ale straight from the source in Jacksonville.  And, since all that running would suck the moisture right out of my skin, I’m gonna’ want more than one of these tasty mammal’s milk pints once I get there. Mad Manatee scratches that urge, too, as it rates a solid 4-5 on our “beer crushability” scale. (Remember, this is a top heavy scale, where numbers indicate how many beers we can down before the “crafty” taste is too much).

All told, this beer is a serious winner and a bargain at any price, considering that the buyer gets both beer AND artwork!! (They do actually sell posters on the website if y’all need some new man cave décor, too).

ABV: 6.5%
